CONSTRUCTION Kazan Cathedral in STAVROPOL be completed by December
Construction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Stavropol completed in December at a cost of about 140 million rubles, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Stavropol Lolita Sklyarov.
`To complete the reconstruction of the temple will require 140 million rubles. It is planned to complete the work in December of this year, including a re-creation will be completed and the bell tower `- said Sklyarov.
On Tuesday, the government of the Stavropol region held a meeting of the Board of Trustees on a reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Stavropol. Council headed by Governor Valery Zerenkov and Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomysskiy.
The members of the board of trustees decided to find the necessary funds to complete the construction of the main Orthodox church of Stavropol.
Full restoration of the Cathedral, which was destroyed over 60 years, is estimated at 300 million rubles. The first part of the sum - 150 million rubles - went to the construction of the temple walls, foundations and the installation of the domes. The necessary money for the construction have been allocated from the regional budget.
However, because of the crisis, the rest of the money from the budget to allocate failed, and the region was created a board of trustees to address the completion of construction of the temple. It was composed of officials and the edge of the public.
The first construction work on the revival of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God began on the eve of Easter in April 2004.
The Cathedral is a monument of church architecture and is considered one of the best in the south of Russia.
