Union domestic producers of Armenia intends to present to the government a proposal for the creation of a Zangezur (Syunik region), the chemical and metallurgical plant for the processing of waste from mining tailings, said the chairman of the Union Vazgen Safarian.
According to him, the construction of a plant may require an investment of about $ 1.5 billion He also stressed that the plant in two to three years will be able to recoup these investments and get the profit of the order of $ 2 billion
`The plant will be possible to arrange the processing of the waste ore tailings total of 1.5 billion tons of which can be further extracted, in particular, 170 m selenium, 3.6 t of gold, silver, 140 m, as well as iron and other metals and chemicals `- said Vazgen Safarian.
According to the expert, through the work of the plant will be possible to export the finished product, and among export markets, he pointed to China, where there is demand and where you can export, for example, 4.3 million tons of iron per year.
Vazgen Safaryan noted that investment in the plant will be justified provided that the construction and operation of the Iran-Armenia, given the simplicity of transport logistics, as well as the support and participation in the project of the state. The plant will open 12 thousand jobs.
In Syunik region of Armenia today has three mining and processing plant - Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine, Kapan mine and Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine.
