SPECIAL FOR AMERICAN PDA Postman

Motorola is preparing to release a special handheld device for the employees of the U.S. FedEx, one of the world#39;s largest transportation companies.

The handheld, called the FedEx PowerPad, built the platform Microsoft Pocket PC. It will replace the manual barcode scanner SuperTracker (his last modification work on the Motorola 68307). The disadvantage of this device was a lack of radio communication.

The courier was necessary each time to transfer data from SuperTracker on a computer located in the car, and use is in her radio.

New PDA equipped with a module GPRS cellular third generation and will work with GSM-AT T network in the U.S.. The agreement entered into with her FedEx in the spring, as the use of its own network, established 20 years ago, it became too expensive.

One of the features of the new PDA will be something that the recipient will sign directly on the touch screen device.

Currently PowerPad being tested in early 2003, will come into service 40000th State Courier FedEx.
