KHAKASSIA LEADS gold mining
In the first quarter of 2012 was beat out in Khakassia foremost gold mining. The increase amounted to 121% compared to the same period last year.
In January-March this year, mining and gold production in Russia increased by 2.2% - up to 33.758 tons, said the Russian Union of Gold.
Including production rose by 3.2% - up to 27.582 tons, passing production increased by 0.05% - up to 4,252 tons Secondary production of precious metals declined by 7.0% - up to 1,923 tons
In the 1st quarter of 2012 compared to the same period last year, output growth was also observed in the Krasnoyarsk region, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Buryatia, Irkutsk and Magadan, the report says the organization.
In particular, Polyus Gold International (controls OAO Polyus Gold ``) increased compared with January-March last year, gold production at Olimpiada and Blagodatnoye deposits in the Krasnoyarsk region, as well as the Kuranakh ore field in Yakutia.
Company Polymetal International (JSC Polymetal ``) also significantly increased its production figures of gold and silver in the Magadan region.
After Khakassia largest increase in production in the region was recorded in the 1st quarter of Kamchatka (74.6%), in the Irkutsk region (56.1%).
Meanwhile, according to the results of March 2012 gold production decreased compared to the same month last year to 772 kg.
According to the forecast of the Union of Gold, in 2012, gold production in Russia will increase by 3.3% - up to 195 tonnes, with production of primary deposits may grow by 6.8% - up to 140 tons, reducing by 4.7% placer - up to 55 tons.
Production of associated gold polymetallic deposits is expected to reach 15 tons, the secondary - 8 tons. As a result, the total gold production in Russia by the end of this year may reach 218 tons compared to 211 tons last year.
