EU REJECTS HASTY MEASURES AGAINST CHINESE TEXTILES

EU REJECTS hasty measures against Chinese textiles

The head of the EU trade negotiations discards the possibility of a trade war with China because of the growing volume of textile imports to the EU, and refuses to accept the #39;hasty#39; measures against Beijing. #39;There was no break in diplomatic relations or trade war between the EU and China is no#39; - said EU Commissioner for Trade, Peter Mandelson (Peter Mandelson) on Thursday after a meeting with Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo xylan (Bo Xilai). Mr Mandelson rejects any possibility of a trade war with China and the adoption of such #39;hasty#39; measures against Beijing. Minister Bo focused on the fact that China is very judiciously #39;controlled the flow of textile products in the EU and adopted 10 measures, which have already led to a#39; significant #39;reduction in export growth to Europe. What we hope - is on steady progress, - he said. Four European countries textile producer - France, Spain, Italy and Greece - are asking the European Commission to take urgent measures to accelerate the adoption of restrictions.

Mr Mandelson said that such measures would be taken in the event that will need to use #39;more persistent action#39; to one of the categories of goods. He insisted that the commission will not act rashly, and the investigation will fully adhere to the rules of the WTO. Minister Bo and other participants in the negotiations, especially the former European Commissioner for Trade Pascal Lemi (Pascal Lamy), the situation is credited with the growth of Chinese textile imports inaction of the European textile industry, which was 10 years old at the time of preparation for the expiration of the quotas. Mr Mandelson rejected this argument, stating that the bulk of European industry prepared - restructured and retooled.

He also said that next week in Beijing delegation sent to the European Commission for further negotiations at the technical level.
