Vyborg Shipyard JSC `factory` starts building line of diesel-electric icebreaker commissioned by the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport.
The vessel is able to overcome the ice thickness of up to 1.5 meters. Its main purpose is self wiring large vessels, towing, fire fighting on floating objects and other structures, assistance to vessels in distress, carrying payloads. Completion date of finished ships - May and October 2015.

Icebreaker Project 21900M - double-decker unlimited navigation area with two full rudder propellers and thrusters, which is equipped with a helipad.
Engineering design of the icebreaker was made by the Central Design Bureau Baltsudoproekt `` - a division of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise #39;State Scientific Center Krylovskiy `. This project is the modernization project 21900, technical and partly working drafts of which were also performed CDB Baltsudoproekt ``. According upgrade projects planned to build three icebreakers.

As previously reported, the FAZ August 20, 2012 began cutting metal for the two sections of the line icebreaker mortgages of 16 MW. In 2013 it is planned to start cutting metal for the second 16 MW icebreaker. Completion date icebreakers - May and October 2015, respectively.


It is assumed that the icebreaker will work in the area of the Baltic Sea.

Contracts for the construction of four icebreakers - 25 MW, 18 MW and two 16 MW - a total value of 20.4 billion rubles signed between JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation `` and `Rosmorport FSUE #39;December 2, 2011. Two icebreakers 16 MW will be built on ZDF, two - at the Baltic Shipyard `` in St. Petersburg.
