WHO SHOES RUSSIA

Who SHOES RUSSIA?

In recent years there has been a slow but steady growth of the Russian footwear market. In 2004 it amounted to 250 to 280 million pairs, and growth - about 12-15%. However, while domestic manufacturers can provide only one-fifth of the required number of shoes, shoes and other footwear, so most have to be purchased abroad. In addition, a huge problem is the import of the shadow, which is 60-80% of the market.

According to the Russian Union of tanners and shoemakers, the volume of Russian footwear market in 2004 amounted to 250-280 million pairs, while in 2003 the figure stood at 200-260 million pairs. In the past two years, the average growth of the market reaches 12-15%, and leading companies - up to 20-30% per year. Experts agree that the volume of the shoe market will continue to grow, but its growth is likely to stabilize and will not exceed 4-5% per year. Characteristically, the growth in the footwear industry today is a relative concept, because in many ways it is due out from the shadow of individual producers.

The second growth factor - imported products. According to the chairman of the Duma Committee on Agriculture Gennady Kulik, last year, domestic manufacturers have provided only 0.4 pairs of shoes per person.
