The situation in global aluminum market in March 2005

In March, a three-month futures prices for primary aluminum has exceeded $ 2,000 per tonne by the intense reduction in inventories and a weak dollar, but by the end of the month returned to the level of $ 1,950 per ton. In the first week of March trades were carried out at the level of $ 1,900 per ton, but on March 11 the price reached $ 2,005 per ton due to the weakening dollar and higher activity in the market. But the next day the three-month aluminum prices fell to $ 1,985 per tonne, before again rising above $ 2,000 per tonne in five days. The market could not support such a high price, and on March 18 the price dropped to $ 1,972 per tonne and due to the strengthening of the dollar continued to fall to $ 1,945 per ton, until the end of the month it rose to $ 1,966 per ton.
