UZBEKISTAN signed contracts to export 670 THOUSAND. Tons of cotton fiber
Uzbekistan signed contracts to export 670,000 tons of cotton fiber at the International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair, held October 17-18 in Tashkent told Trend on Friday in the organizing committee of the fair.
In addition, contracts worth more than $ 600 million on exports of textile enterprises in Uzbekistan. The volume of contracts for the purchase of cotton, compared with the previous year, increased by 11.7 percent, the volume of supply of textile products - by 9.1 percent.
In total, the fair signed over 150 contracts among 12 foreign and six national companies.
As previously reported, on the basis of the fair, held last year, were signed export contracts for 600,000 tons of cotton fiber, as well as for the supply of textile enterprises in Uzbekistan totaling more than $ 550 million.
`Demand for cotton and textiles produced in Uzbekistan, the world market is very high, therefore, despite the end of the fair, will continue contracting #39;, - said the representative of the organizing committee.
According to the organizers of the fair, in the Conference was attended by over a thousand foreign companies in the cotton and textile industry from 38 countries.
The main buyers of Uzbek cotton in the current season continues to be the company of Bangladesh (39 percent), China (13 percent), South Korea (seven percent).
International Uzbek Cotton Fair held by the Uzbek government with the assistance of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC). The first such fair was held in October 2005.
Then there were the contracts for the sale of more than 1.1 million tons of cotton fiber. Total Uzbekistan signed at the fair export contracts in the amount of about 4.5 million tons of cotton fiber.
Currently, Uzbekistan is the world#39;s sixth largest producer and the second - on exports of cotton fiber.
Annually, Uzbekistan produces about 3.5 million tons of raw cotton and 1-1.2 million tons of cotton fiber. With over 95 per cent is of medium selected varieties with a fiber length of 32-33 mm, the rest - in the long-fiber varieties (36-39 mm).
