IBM CREATES WORLD'S SMALLEST TRANSISTOR

IBM creates world#39;s smallest TRANSISTOR

IBM has developed the smallest silicon transistor in the world. Its size is comparable to the size of the molecule.

In the communiqué issued on Monday the company reported that the length of the transistor is only 6 nanometers (six millionths of a meter), which is ten times smaller than the smallest transistors manufactured today.

According to the company, this will allow the transistor to one hundred fold increase in the number of electrical circuits computer, reports Interfax. This decrease in the size of these circuits will reduce the production cost, and also to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency of computers.
