OFFICIAL RELEASE NEW VERSION STANDARD ETHERNET IEEE 802.3-2012
OFFICIAL RELEASE NEW VERSION STANDARD ETHERNET IEEE 802

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has officially announced the adoption of a new version of Ethernet-standard under the name of 802.3-2012 `Standard for Ethernet`. Recall family of specifications IEEE 802.3, the first version of which was published in 1985, concerns the functioning of the wired network, and describes the physical layer (PHY) layer and medium access control data (MAC - Media Access Control) protocol Ethernet.

User requirements are constantly increasing, so the organization IEEE forced to review its standards. Last IEEE 802.3 full audit was conducted in 2008. Version 2012 includes such amendments as expanding the capacity of up to 40 and 100 Gb / s, as well as offering better energy efficiency, improved support for applications that are sensitive to loss of data, improved mechanisms for time synchronization.

It is also noted to preserve backward compatibility with IEEE 802.3 specifications of previous generations.

The new edition will be available for purchase at the official store standards IEEE.
