Russian companies have shown interest in joint projects with Afghanistan on mining in the Islamic republic. This told the chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko at a meeting with the chairman of the House of Elders of the National Assembly of Afghanistan Fazal Hadi Muslimyarom, said on Wednesday, July 11, the press service of the Federation Council.

`Our geologists have unique experience in exploration of hydrocarbons, coal, gold and other minerals. If you agree the Afghan parties to be actively involved in this work `- said Matvienko.

According to her, Russia is interested in the economic prosperity of Afghanistan and the country is ready to provide all possible support. Matviyenko also said that she was concerned the presence of U.S. military bases in Afghanistan.

`We know that the work to expand the military infrastructure of the United States in Afghanistan is very active, and it is unclear what its task if the end of the 2014 stabilization efforts will basically complete the` - said Matvienko.

In addition, the speaker announced the intention to restore the Russian House of Science and Culture in Kabul. Its construction has already allocated $ 20 million. Matvienko also advocated for increased quotas for the training of Afghan students in Russian universities.


According to her, this will lead to a rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries.

In turn, Fazal Hadi Muslimyar assured that the contract Kabul on strategic cooperation with the United States is not directed against any country, and pointed to the readiness of the Republic to conclude a similar agreement with the Russian Federation. Also chairman of the House of Elders of the Islamic republic said that in Afghanistan are interested in attending the Russian business in the energy and transport projects.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Russian-Afghan intergovernmental commission March 2, 2012 the then Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said that in 2011 the growth of trade between the countries compared to 2010 was 72.5%. Compared with 2004, this figure increased more than 12 times. Thus, according to him, in 2012 this figure will increase significantly.
