KAZAKHMYS' A 10-FOLD INCREASE IN THE PRODUCTION OF ZINC AND 2 TIMES GOLD

Kazakhmys `In` 10-fold increase in the production of zinc and 2 times - GOLD.

In the first eight months of 2005, the corporation Kazakhmys produced 34.4 million tonnes of zinc metal as against 3.2 million tonnes in the same period of last year and 2004 kg of gold bullion (no tolling) against 851 kg in January August 2004. Just increased production of silver granules (no tolling) from 352 to 428 tons, KZ-today reports referring to the press service of the corporation.
In January-August 2005 increased by almost all production figures Kazakhmys, except for the production of refined copper and copper rods (263.3 thousand tons and 6.5 tons respectively). As previously reported, the decline in the production of copper wire rod and due to the fact that the corporation has moved to mine low-grade ores. Ore production for the first eight months amounted to 26 million tons against 23.6 million tons in January-August 2004.
Of all the refined copper, set for export, 40% were shipped to China, all the rest - to Europe. All metallic zinc was shipped to China.
In the first eight months of 2005 the volume of commodity products produced by the corporation amounted to 140.3 billion tenge, which is 19.6% more than the same period last year.
