HP MICROSOFT AND DEVELOP A NEW CONCEPT PC
Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard have joined forces to create a device designed to simplify the process of online communication in real-time voice and video data. The purpose of the project - to provide users, including corporate events, a more efficient exchange of information.
Joint development companies - a prototype of the product, code-named Agora, named after the ancient Greek places of public assembly, was introduced at Comdex last week. HP will produce hardware devices, including liquid crystal display with built-in speakers and a port for connecting the USB-peripherals. Agora will be equipped with a radio module, allows you to connect wireless devices in the first place, the mouse, keyboard and headset.
Microsoft will provide software to a new PC.
According to the operating units of desktop computers HP Rich Dodds, companies want to push the evolution of the PC, transforming it from a business-oriented computing device into a powerful tool of communication and information exchange. Agora project is designed to make high-priced video conferencing facilities available to the average user. Dodds added that the wireless module Agora in combination with a specially developed software allows this device to easily interact with ordinary PC.
Currently the project is in the early stages of development, in the market Agora is scheduled no earlier than 2004.
