During the summer season of field work in 2012 on the territory of Yakutia obtained evidence of new diamond deposits in the Arctic regions of the country.

Given the existing data, this year#39;s geologists have tried to find in the Arctic regions of Yakutia diamond-bearing kimberlites Triassic period (preceded by the Jurassic period). However, in the course of work, scientists have evidence that the west Olenek uplift may be diamond-bearing kimberlite pipes of Middle period, that is even more ancient.

Confirming their assumptions scientists see in the detection of kimberlite minerals in river-bed sediments of Permian age. To confirm the presence there of highly diamondiferous kimberlites scientists have collected enough samples.

To date, commercial production of diamonds in Russia is in Yakutia, Perm and Arkhangelsk Oblast Russia ranked first in proven reserves in the world. 97% of all diamond mining carries AK ALROSA ``, whose share in world production is about 28%.
