In the foundry department? 3 BrAZ started work in a new generation of equipment - the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) agitator, mounted on a modern foundry complex. This project is part of Rusal to improve the quality of flat bars.
A new technique is largely experimental and different from common in the modern aluminum industry structures.
`New MHD mixers are designed specifically for the complex Wagstaff and mounted in the bottom plane of the casting mixer - says the foundry foreman Michael Woltmann. - With this equipment, we have automated the process of mixing of the melt and cut the time to find the man in the area of high temperature #39;.
The mixing process of the melt at the foundry complex was fully automated and accelerated considerably. Generation equipment provides a more uniform, as compared with mechanical stirring, the distribution of alloying elements throughout the alloy in a mixer. This heat loss and reduced material consumption.
New mixers developed by specialists of Engineering and Technology Center Rusal. A similar technique has been established this year by the Krasnoyarsk aluminum plant.
