GERMAN STEEL continue to stagnate
GERMAN STEEL CONTINUE TO STAGNATE

Over the next few quarters metallurgy Germany will remain under pressure of low prices and high costs. This is stated in the report of the British analytical agency Companies and Markets.

According to the document, it will contribute to the further consolidation of steel companies, as well as lower production volumes.

Currently steelmakers predict that the increase in output will be possible not earlier than 2015, which will be associated with low prices. The report says that steel production in Germany in 2016 will be at 41.7 million tonnes, which would be 5.6% lower than in 2011 and 13.9% less than the peak levels of 2007

The largest steel producer in the country is TyssenKrupp with annual production of 16 million tonnes in second place ArcelorMittal, whose enterprises are located in Bremen, Duisburg and Hamburg Eisenhüttenstadt, produces annually about 8 million tons of steel. Due to the proximity of plants in Eisenhüttenstadt to Poland the majority of their production is sold on the market in Central and Eastern Europe. The third largest steel company in the country is Salzgitter AG, whose enterprises are located in Salzgitter and Peine.
