Textile and garment and knitwear industry in the country ship products to the markets of the CIS, the European Union, China, the U.S., Canada, and a number of Arab countries.

In 2011, the share of light industry in GDP was 2.7% in the volume of industrial production - more than 26% in the production of food - more than 44%.

The volume of domestic processing of cotton fiber from the total produced in the country, from 7% in 1991, rose to 35% today.

Since that time, the industry attracted foreign investment of $ 1.8 billion and sold more than 150 major investment projects.

Only in the last two and a half years and put into operation 43 industrial enterprises worth 387 million dollars and the export potential of 245 million dollars, which created more than 13,000 jobs.

Among the largest - the company `` Buharateks design capacity of 52.5 million dollars and a production capacity of 16,000 tons of yarn per year. Up to 15,000 tons of yarn per year is capable of producing foreign company `Indorama Kokand Textile` established on the basis of Kokand Textile Mill. The cost of the project - $ 55 million.
