VOLKSWAGEN LAUNCHES CONSTRUCTION plant in Kaluga
December 11, Dmitry Medvedev will visit Autoworks Company `` Volkswagen Group Rus in Kaluga region, where he will see a series of workshops and take part in the opening ceremony of the construction of a new plant for the production of internal combustion engines.
The Chairman of the Government will examine the training center for training and retraining of personnel for the automotive industry in the Kaluga College of Information Technology and Management.
The event will be attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Alexander Beglov, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Kaluga Region Governor Anatoly Artamonov, representatives of ministries and departments, heads of industry companies.
August 28, 2012 Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen M.Vinterkorn and Kaluga region A.Artamonov signed an agreement to build the plant in the Kaluga region for the production of engines. The Company is planning to invest in the construction of the plant about 250 million euros. Start of production is planned for 2015.
The plant will produce engines latest EA211 series 1.6-liter. The engine is the embodiment of the most advanced technologies in the field of engine concern. The production capacity of 150 thousand units per year, the planned staff - 500 employees.
Construction of the plant for production of engine meets the conditions of the May 2011 supplementary agreement on industrial assembly under Government Decree? 166: in 2016 30% of produced on the territory of Russian cars must be equipped with Russian engines.

The volume of production in Russia all vehicles (including cars of foreign brands) for January-October 2012 amounted to more than 1.8 million units (an increase over the same period in 2011 - 12.4%).
