SOUTH KOREA TO BOOST STEEL EXPORTS

In January-October 2012, the South Korean steel companies increased exports of steel products over the same period last year by 7.6% to 25,413 million tons, the materials referred to in the South Korean Iron and Steel Association (KOSA).

At the same time, steel imports to South Korea for 10 months decreased by 11.2% to 17.826 million tonnes a result, net exports of the country amounted to 7,587 million tons of steel products.

Most of this volume is made up of exports of flat steel products in the amount of 7.752 million tons, in particular, shipments to foreign markets cold-rolled steel sheet - 3,494 million tons

In the segment of long-length South Korea has become a net importer by buying abroad 1.362 million tons of these products. At the same time, a large fraction of this amount totaled 850 thousand tons of wire rod.

In October of this year, South Korea#39;s steel exports remained virtually unchanged compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2.578 million tons, while imports were up 0.3% to 1.597 million tons
