ON THE ISLANDS FIJI TO BE BUILT FIRST ORTHODOX CHURCH
Athens, January 14. The Greek Orthodox Brotherhood of foreign missions has appealed to the faithful to help build the first Orthodox church in Fiji, reports `Week` referring to the agency `Amen #39;.
Land for the church was purchased at the expense of the Brotherhood in Lautoka, on the largest of the islands of Viti Levu.
The temple will be dedicated in honor of the Holy Trinity, it will be arranged at the orphanage and the Orthodox school. It is assumed that the construction of these buildings will cost 188,000 euros.
The Orthodox community of Fiji is under the jurisdiction of the Constantinople Patriarchate, Metropolitan New Zealand. 64.5% of the island#39;s population are Christians, of which the majority (35%) are the Methodists.
