Construction of new homes in the U.S. in October 2012. increased compared to the previous month by 3.6% to 894 thousand units. These data are released by the Ministry of Commerce. Analysts had expected the index value will reach 840 million homes.

Compared to the same period in October 2011. the volume of new buildings in the United States in October 2012. increased by 41.9%.

According to revised data, in September 2012. the volume of new buildings in the U.S. increased on a monthly basis by 15.1% (previously reported growth rate of 15%) and amounted to 863 thousand units.

The number of permits issued for the construction of new homes in October 2012. compared with the revised figure for the previous month decreased by 2.7% - up to 866 thousand units. Compared with October 2011. the number of permits increased by 29.8%.
