In Uzbekistan, currently employs more than 280 enterprises of light industry with crushing capacity of over 400,000 tons of cotton fiber. Since the beginning of this year was up 17 new businesses. The total amount of foreign investment in the development of the textile industry of the country amounted to about $ 2 billion, including $ 100 million - this year alone.

Along with the increase in the deep processing of cotton Uzbekistan pays special attention to the geographical expansion of exports, especially in those countries where the textile enterprises steadily increasing demand for high quality Uzbek cotton fiber, said Shaukat Mirziyoev.

During the years of independence of the Republic breeders were put 162 varieties of cotton, 45 of which were included in the state register of Uzbekistan and recommended for planting in various areas of the country.
