IMPORT TEXTILES be taxed
Recall that the release of textile products from customs duty was introduced on the initiative of the Ministry of Finance Yuval Steinitz and came into force on 1 January 2013.
Justifying the move, MPs said the decision Steinitz hit the domestic textile industry and puts it at a disadvantage with foreign competitors. They also recalled that most of the textiles produced today in China, where labor costs are low. Dumping in the Israeli textile market, according to the Knesset Finance Committee, will lead to the closure of local industries and mass layoffs.
